Mission Minutes

Money from Rags
Recently we transformed a non-usable, undeveloped area on the property into a recycling program. Funds generated from baling unuseable clothing, leather goods, shoes, blankets, etc. provides financial support for the Clarksburg Mission.
The program has had been in other locations before - in Glen Elk number two for a long time and then on Pike Street. After a few years, it was moved to the old Central Supply building. Finally, we came up with a great place here on our property where we could effectively operate this program for the least amount of money in the most effective manner.
For the longest time we have received your clothing donations, sorted them, placed the unusable items in bags and hauled them to the Recycling Program. Once there, they were opened, baled into 1,200 pound bundles and shipped off to be recycled. But now, we will receive your donated clothing, sort it, and drop the unusable items down a shoot that goes straight to our own recycling operation. Items are baled, stacked and then shipped. This cuts out the added expenses of additional manpower and the cost of fuel to haul the rags to a different location.
There are two great things about this project: (1) You can get rid of your torn tee shirts, stained pants and outdated items. (2) We get to recycle them into CASH for the Clarksburg Mission. Everyone wins!
